My first car belonged to my parents…a ’62 Chrysler Newport with a 361 engine and “pink daisy flowers” on both sides behind the rear side windows! My idea – not theirs! Members Tom & Sharon remember those days, as we all cruised the streets of Wooster during that era. My friends and I enjoyed many summer evenings racing from light to light against the guys in off-brands. One of those guys was our very own Dave G. - driving a ’59 Chevy convertible! Surely not! He owned several nice Chevys during our dating years but became an all-out MOPAR guy a short time later. I won many of those light-to-light challenges but must admit there was one car that gave me some real competition. It was a ’66 Plymouth Fury. Was never able to “take him” as the saying goes. When Dave & I got married I had to leave my beloved beauty with my parents. No more drag racing now that I was an adult! If my parents had known the whole story, I would probably have still been grounded when Dave & I got married! My Dad eventually sold the car to my uncle for $50 and he turned it into a stock car. ☹ Sure do miss those fun times! Wonder how many other couples met their spouses while cruising the streets of their hometown!
Had this car in 1976-77 . I bought it after pestering the owner for a year and a half. I think his name was Brent A. from Dalton. Then Nancy and I got engaged and I thought I needed to get something more sensible to drive and the rest is history😢
